Meet the Trainers

Balaji Kannan is the founder and head coach at B@B Academy. He has solid international exposure playing basketball in India, United States of America, Philippines and China. He is very well known for his offensive and defensive capabilities, high Basketball IQ and being able to deliver in clutch moments. Coupled with aggressive ball handling, rebounding and court vision he has been a value add to the teams he played. His passion for the game of basketball and leadership quality has made him very successful against high level competition over his career.

Represented giant South Indian sports clubs namely Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Indian Telephone Industries Limited at several All India Tournaments and State Level Tournaments. He also represented Bangalore University at the All India Inter University Basketball Tournaments for four consecutive years.

As a basketball coach, Balaji is always energetic, motivational and very passionate when it comes to sharing and teaching the individuals or group. Kids love to address him as Coach B. Very popular among kids and parents when it comes to communicating and running practices in an organized and fun filled learning environment. He is now passing on this knowledge and experience to players of all levels and ages around the community. He has been volunteer head coach at the Durham Elementary School (Fremont Unified School District) and City of Fremont Youth Basketball Leagues where he coaches both the Boys and Girls team. Coach B has the ability to quickly analyze players’ strengths, weaknesses, goals, and properly address them through necessary drills in all walks of the game.

Along with Basketball, he also enjoys strict fitness regime, Yoga and hiking to have a sound body and sound mind.

  • B@B Academy was founded in October 2014 with a mission to help bring together young athletes of diverse culture and race and create a sense of oneness in the community through basketball. Coach B arrived at this current level with years of hard work, perseverance, and love for the game. Now he is focused on building a better tomorrow and pass on his basketball knowledge and experience to the youth community.
